About The Quest

A layperson’s guide to managing health, stress, diet, excercise…and life..despite a chronic, crippling autoimmune disease.

Until a few years ago, I had a relatively healthy, athletic and successful life.

All that was derailed in just a few years, however, when a particularly nasty form of multiple sclerosis left me with permanent nerve damage along my spinal cord, a painful limp, and a once promising career–and finances–in total ruin

And I am one of the lucky ones!

Thanks to a great team of doctors and nurses at UCLA, the love of my beautiful wife and family, and a six-month course of chemotherapy I finally have my illness under control (at least for now); and my career is back on track (albeit headed for a different terminal).

This blog attempts to document what happened, and where I go from here.  It’s intended to appeal, most obviously, to the approximately 500,000 people worldwide stricken with multiple sclerosis, as well the millions of friends, family and health care providers impacted by this illness and other similar, autoimmune disorders.

I also hold out hope that the blog has some value to anyone, perhaps not lucky enough to have a chronic illness ; ) but who may be able to still apply the health (and life) lessons of this narrative to their own lives.

Cheers,

Paul Páez
